you know... i'm looking for atlantis... it doesn't make sence to be a story only, 'cause well, really it would make sence... if you think about the development of humanity, there are some things that exist everywhere... some of them are very advanced... now lets look at some of the wonders of the world, and maybe just some ancient civilizations... ok, stone henge for instance, messures very precice asteronomical information... it's amazing that that could be done without the technology available today... also, the knowlege of the stars needed for that, wouldn't be all that strange if it was unique, but, are found in many other amazing structures around the world... let's look at the myans... (i hope i spelt that right, sorry if i didn't) their knowlege was astounding... they too had a great astronomical know how about them... as did the egyptions, etc...
so where is atlantis? and what is it? the thing you have to take into concideration is this... amazing technelogical artifacts at that time, wouldn't be all that great now... i don't expect that the atlantians had computers, microwaves, space flight, etc... but, i would like to find the place anyway... if you look around the world, there are many places that support it's existance... but finding evidance of a place that hasn't existed for melenia, is hard to do... so, where to look... instead of checking georgraphy, and history archives... lets think a little deeper... plato described the location of atlantis as beeing (i don't remember exactly, but some where around here) near the pillars of hercules... (again with the spelling) anyway... what does this say? that it's near greece... so where to go from greece... as there is no historical archive which supports this theory, other than plato, you have to switch to mythology... greek mythology was amazing... sure the romans have something very similar, but that's just 'cause they stole it from the greek...
what if greek mythology wasn't so much a myth, but based on what they were lead to believe? what if the greek gods, were really atlantians? could this not be true? this would change a lot of our outlook on the past would it not? mayhaps greek mythology doesn't account for everything, but it should let us know that atlantis existed, and that it's people were far suppirior to ourselve (at least at that time)
this doesn't mean that the atlantians had the capability to do all the things that greek mythology has given them credit for, many things can be altered through misinterpritation... but... this does say, that to find atlantis... the first place we should check, is greece...
